Phil Corbett
He / him
Phil likes to use the term storyteller to describe himself professionally, rather than saying he’s both an author and an illustrator. Although he’s not sure what the term would be for someone who both writes and draws comics, so he sticks with the usual phrase that ‘he does comics’. He also does a lot of work for the toy and game industry where illustration is just called art and writing is known as narrative design. And the innovative work that he does for Amazon on Alexa hasn’t even got a title yet. But all these are terms for basically the same thing: telling stories.
As someone who 'does comics', Phil was the last person to write and illustrate the adventures of one of the oldest comic characters in the world, Korky the Cat in the Dandy. The reason that venerable comic stopped being published after 75 years, a couple of years after Phil started working for them, has absolutely nothing to do with him. Well, that’s his story (which you already know he’s good at telling) and he’s sticking to it. Clients have included Cartoon Network, Nickelodeon, Nintendo and Sony Playstation. Phil's debut comic graphic novel - Kitty Quest - published with Razorbill US and Simon & Schuster UK in June 2021 and the second book, Tentacle Trouble, published Summer 2022, with more books planned in the series.
