Júlia Sardà

The Witch in the Tower is the stunning second instalment in Júlia’s Three Sisters trilogy (Walker Books). In book two, it’s middle sister Carmela’s turn to have her own adventure and along the way she meets a mysterious witch who has been waiting for her…

Júlia has let her imagination explode with this book - every spread is a rich universe all of its own, full of details and hidden meanings for readers to pore over. For insight into Júlia’s inspiration and ideas behind the artwork, check out her recent instagram posts: @Juliasardaportabella.

“It’s a wild rumpus of sorts and a love letter to the outcasts, “the lonely, the lost, and the different ones”—and that is a beautiful, empowering thing.” -  Booklist (starred review)

Chloe Bristol

Chloe’s gothic style could not have been more suited to this picture book version of Edgar Allen Poe’s classic poem The Raven (Running Press). Atmospheric scenes, moody shadows, and a scratchy drawing style, we can almost here the cry of ‘Nevermore’! Oh wait, that’s the little mini book and model set that Running Press produced too! Gloriously gothic as ever Chloe!

Júlia Sardà, Myriam Dahman and Nicholas Digard

The Owl Witch (Orchard Books) is the third collaboration between illustrator Júlia Sardà and authors Myriam Dahman and Nicolas Digard. Júlia’s artwork beautifully captures the mood of this folkloric tale of a solitary witch, a midnight visitor, and an underwater adventure. Detailed and rich, this story complements the trio’s previous books The Wolf’s Secret and Leina and the Lord of the Toadstools.

Dominique Valente

Congratulations to our author Dominique whose middle grade novel Witchlight hits shelves this October. Return to the world of Miss Hegotty’s Secret Society of Witches in this stunning middle grade sequel, beautifully illustrated by Eleonora Asparuhova (Usborne).

For those who like a little glitter with their Halloween picture books, you can’t go wrong with the magical Witchicorn, written by our author Angela Woolfe and illustrated by Sarah Jennings, (Farshore). Witchicorn may be half witch, half unicorn, but she’s all heart in this funny and charming rhyming picture book. Congratulations Angela!
