Sònia Albert is an illustrator from Mataró, a Mediterranean city near Barcelona.
It wasn’t until she finished her degree in Audiovisual Communication that she started her journey in illustration. After several years working in a comic studio she moved to the UK to attend the Children’s Book Illustration MA course at Cambridge School of Art, graduating in 2020.
Sònia likes to tell stories and to create charming characters. She enjoys printmaking, traditional art and digital art, experimenting with different media. Currently she loves to draw with pencils while colouring her drawings digitally, merging them with print-making textures.
She has worked in the publishing industry to illustrate children's books and character design. Her clients include Bromera and Algar edicions and she was shortlisted for the Sebastian Walker Prize 2020.
