Sònia Albert is an illustrator from Mataró, a Mediterranean city near Barcelona.
It wasn’t until she finished her degree in Audiovisual Communication that she started her journey in illustration. After several years working in a comic studio she moved to the UK to attend the Children’s Book Illustration MA course at Cambridge School of Art, where she graduated in 2020 and was shortlisted for the Sebastian Walker Prize the same year.
Sònia likes to tell stories and to create charming characters. She enjoys printmaking, traditional art and digital art, experimenting with different media. Currently she loves to draw with pencils while colouring her drawings digitally, merging them with print-making textures.
Her clients include Bromera, Algar edicions, Appleseed, Barrington Stoke, Chicken House, Chronicle and Walker Books.
