Lucia Masciullo

Lucia was born and bred in Livorno, Italy. She currently lives in Brisbane, Australia, and works as a freelance illustrator, specialising in children’s books. Using mixed media and often textures to give a tactile element to her work, Lucia likes to create whimsical characters who inhabit colorful, remarkable worlds. 'The Boy and the Toy', authored by Sonya Hartnett and illustrated by Lucia, won the 2010 Aurealis Award, and more recently 'Family Forest', authored by Kim Kane, was shortlisted for the CBCA (Children's Book Council of Australia) Book of the Year 2011. Lucia's clients include Australian publisher Hardie Grant Egmont, Penguin (Australia) and digital publisher Blue Quoll, of which Lucia is also co-founder.
