Briony May Smith
Briony May Smith is a freelance illustrator living in Devon.
She grew up in Sandhurst and moved to Cornwall to study Illustration at Falmouth University, where she graduated with a 1st Class BA (Hons). She was highly commended for the Macmillan Children’s Book Prize in 2013 and 2014, and was shortlisted for the Emerging Talent Category of the British Comic Awards in 2014.
Briony moved back to the Southwest in 2016, where she takes a lot of inspiration from her rural surroundings. She writes and illustrates children’s books and her books have been translated into over 20 languages. Briony has also worked on concept art and character designs for animation and advertising.
Briony's clients include Anne Schwartz Books, Walker Books, Aardman, Pan Macmillan, Nosy Crow, L'Occitane, Google, Pavilion Books, Oxford University Press, Barrington Stoke, and Schwartz & Wade.
